Tikal

Tikal is the most famous of the Guatemalan Maya remain sites. It was one of the longest inhabitated areas with buildings being built on top of existing buildings throughout its history. There are five main temples, all of which are over twelve stories high. Temple I is 145 feet tall.

The Mayan ball court is in the foreground to the south of Temple I.
Temple II is 125feet tall.

The courtyard inside the Central Acropolis.
Buildings in the Central Acropolis. In the background is the still not restored Temple V at 190feet tall.
Unfortunately, on the day I had allocated to see Tikal, a massive thunderstorm had all but shutdown the park with rain, flooding and lots of mud. So this is all I have of Tikal. :(
