Charyn

Horses grazing in a field on the way to Charyn about 2 hours east of Almaty.

Snow capped mountains that are very similar to the mountains near Almaty.

Symbols like this were used in ancient times to show where water was available to the roaming people of the time.  Even today you can see people filling up bottles to the rear of the statue.  It is said that Marco Polo came to this one.

This is Charyn, the Kazakhstan Grand Canyon about 60 miles (100 Kilometers) from the border of China.

If you have ever been to Arizona  or South Eastern California, you would think I bumped my head and started putting pictures of the USA on the Kazakhstan page.

This is called the crashed UFO formation.  Go figure.
